There's something comforting about the shadowy and secretive motion of voyeuristic tendencies. Sometimes when you peer into open windows- of a bar perhaps, you catch sight of an alluring enigmatic woman. Her name is Louki, or at least it's the only name you know of. You watch her from the eyes of three narrators as they try to grasp a semblance of meaning. Who is Louki? Why is she so mystifying?
What captivated me through the beauty of the words was the way in which Louki becomes apart of the novel itself. She possesses the essence of Paris during the 1950s in its noir-esque mode of the ennui. She hypnotizes those who meet her while also binding the reader to the somber ways of life. It's a short read but worth every minute for those who truly wish to experience portrait of time. -Genesis Drew
